Materials Used for Making Springs Part I – Springs – Design of Machine

Hello friends here in this video we will see the Materials which are commonly used for making Springs let us get started materials used for making Springs the materials which are used for making Springs mostly Springs consists of steel and in steel we mean that it is a mixture of iron and carbon so I’ll write down that Springs are commonly made with carbon content from 0.5 percent carbon to 1 percent carbon this is the most common composition which is used in case of Springs next even alloy Steel’s are used I’ll write it down alloy Steel’s are used for high values of load and even for repeated loading so alloy steels are preferred when the spring is subjected to high loads or if they’re the load is repeated next I have the material as spring brass phosphor bronze and monnel metal these three are used when corrosion resistant Springs are needed that is if we want corrosion resistant Springs then the material we will select it would be either spring brass phosphor bronze or model battle then I’ll write down 55 si2 MN 90 and 50 CR 1 V 2 3 now these two materials they are most commonly used for Springs so these two are commonly used in making Springs so here we have seen what are the materials which are used for Springs Springs mostly made up of iron plus carbon the content is it normally ranges from 0.5 percent carbon to 1 percent carbon then we even have alloy Steel’s which are used when the load is of a high value or repeated loading then we have some of the materials which are corrosion resistance like we have spring brass phosphor bronze and monnel metal which are used as corrosion resistant Springs that is Springs which are subjected to moisture mostly they would be made up of these materials and at last I have written two materials here they are the most commonly used for spring which contains silicon manganese chromium and vanadium so in this video we have seen what are the materials used for Springs
